Let Me Float Your Boat

So there is a local bar in Silver Spring called Fire Station 1, and it's your typical bar fare restaurant. They bring in mostly local food and 9 of their 12 beers are from local breweries as well. I haven't sampled too much of the menu, but I can tell you their hot sauce for the buffalo chicken is to die for and their customer service is top notch - I always enjoy myself whenever I go there.

Justin and I have made friends with one of the managers there and we stopped in this afternoon to try their limited-availability watermelon beer (which was delicious by the way).

While we were talking to the manager about some of their beers on tap, he told us that the other day they were serving ... wait for it ...

BEER FLOATS!

Yup, it's exactly like it sounds - an adult version of your favorite childhood treat.

Fire Station 1 has an excellent stout beer (and I am not a stout beer fan). It has hints of chocolate and coffee and they serve it up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it and it is really tasty. The manager insisted on us having one on the house, so Justin and I split it. What a great summer treat!
